BAIAC enters into MoU with Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC)
BAIAC and VIAC Sign Memorandum of Cooperation to Promote International Arbitration and Mediation
On March 19, 2025, BAIAC and VIAC signed a collaboration memorandum of understanding to advance the growth of arbitration and ADR between the two institutions.
BAIAC and VIAC affirm their shared commitment to the promotion of international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Recognising the growing demand for efficient, effective, and confidential dispute resolution in the global business community, the two institutions aim to foster mutual understanding and cooperation between users in Singapore, ASEAN, and Austria. This collaboration reflects a joint effort to strengthen fair and expeditious resolution of commercial disputes.
Under the MoU, BAIAC and VIAC will collaborate in promoting arbitration and mediation through co-organising seminars, conferences, and academic exchanges in each other’s jurisdictions. The institutions will also explore reciprocal support in recommending mediation and arbitration services to users, sharing lists of qualified arbitrators and mediators, and providing access to facilities for hearings and meetings. While the cooperation is non-exclusive and does not create agency between the parties, it represents a significant step in facilitating cross-border dispute resolution and strengthening ties between Asia and Europe in the ADR landscape.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Nikolaus Pitkowitz, VIAC President and Pro. Steve Ngo, BAIAC President, witnessed by Ms Nazli Morali, Legal Counsel of VIAC, Mr Aloysius Wee, Committee Member of BAIAC and Mr Dar Wong, Director of Business Development, BAIAC.
